BIOGRAPHY

Vladimir Alvarado has been working in his foundry and on his artistic creations for 39 years ago. He was born in Saltillo, Coahuila, México in 1938 and studied sculpture in La Escuela de Artes Plasticas in Torreon and in La Escuela Nacional de Artes Plasticas, the Academia San Carlos de Mexico D.F., under the direction of the renowned Ignacio Asunsulo.

Works that depict social and often historical significance, Vladimir produces voluptuous human forms that have brought him great recognition. An artist with his own unique style, his characters express enormous strength, as his forms are solid and heavy, and his figures project a depth of character and hold immense detail. It is the exaggerated shape of the feet and hands that immediately capture our attention, the roundness and wonderful proportion of his figures, their pride, their representation of life in Mexico and the Mexican spirit.

A mature artist and foundry man yearning for recognition and to expand his talents, Vladimir has competed in national sculptural competitions and events and created numerous works for museums and art galleries throughout the state of Chihuahua and along the American/Mexican border. His original sculptures have been commissioned by individuals and art collectors in Mexico, the United States and Canada. His bronze casting foundry is on the El Paso, Texas-Juarez, Mexico border, and it is one of the few such art foundries in the area.

"My overwhelming passion is in creating art,” says Vladimir, “and I never wear out. Time is so short compared to everything that must be done, for my life is to shape the human figure."
